For the safety of owner, people as well as public property, filling station fills only retested cylinder as per the guidelines of petroleum & explosive safety organization of India.
Compressed natural gas (CNG) is natural gas under pressure, which remains under, odorless and non-corrosive. It is also a cheaper, greener and more effective alternative to the traditional petrol and diesel fuels for vehicles.
Environmentally friendly reduced maintenance cost, CNG produced significantly less pollutants then petrol/diesel, natural gas is cheaper and safer than petrol/diesel, green fuel.
1. Hydro testing which is known as hydrostatic testing is a non-destructive test procedure to examine cylinder for leakage, structural flow, durability & corrosion.
2. Cylinder structure integrity is also checked in the following process. The process also checked the pressure handling strength of the cylinder.
3. It is called hydrostatic because the cylinder is filled with water because heavy pressure is applied to it with the help of high pressure pump, if the cylinder is of low capacity it will shoe leakage. The cylinder are discarded immediately & not allowed to be used.
With the increase in the number of CNG vehicles hydro testing has become important mishaps such as chances of cylinder explosion.
The hydro testing should not be understand because it is for the safety of your vehicle and your precious life.
At the time of refueling, CNG cylinders experience a lot of pressure of body.
The constant pressure on cylinder walls result in a crack in the metal which is no longer able to handle the pressure & eventually explodes.
To avoid such dangerous scenarios, hydro testing is necessary.
as per the Indian standards 8451:200 & gas cylinder rules,2004, it is mandatory for all CNG vehicles to get their CNG hydro testing every three years.
After the test, a certificated of compliance is given to the customer which must be affixed at a proper place.
The certificate helps in refilling the cylinder from any authorized gas stations.
Non-adherence to the following can lead to refusal of filling gas t station & may lead to certain penalties.
All CNG run vehicles should have compliance plate affixed at appropriate place on the vehicle & ensure their CNG cylinders hydro tested every 3 years with valid hydro test certified as per gas cylinder rules 2004. The date of test cylinders testing should be punched on every cylinder & compliance plate.
